The Discovery of ADELINE X (music marketing)

 In this Blog I will describe the behind-the-scenes of a music marketing project centered around the new artist 'ADELINE X'.

RESEARCHING BRAND IDENTITY AND TARGET AUDIENCE.


We began the project creating a media case study chart, in where we investigated marketing tools multiple famous companies use to promote their artists. We came to the conclusion that social media and the engagement with the audience are the best tools to unveil a new artist. We listened to the song 'Royals' multiple times, analyzing the lyrics to create an original and eye-catching music video. My group and I decided our new artist would be ADELINE X, an 18 year old, who has a grunge aesthetic. ADELINE X catches the attention of 18 to 25-year-old women thanks to how she resonates with breaking away from societal expectations. We investigated how to achieve this grunge aesthetic such as vintage, messy look, and muted color palettes by analyzing other artists or celebrities such as Machine Gun Kelly and Tara Yummy. 

DEFINING ADELINE X: THE ARTIST'S BRAND AND PERSONA.

This 18-year-old grunge rebellious artist, whose lyrics resonate with experiences of young adults, mainly women, had to have her image aligned with a color palette that fitted her aesthetic. The artists that represent the same grunge and rebellious vibe as her usually use a similar color palette, for that reason, we decided that ADELINE X brand colors are red and black.  As an artist she will always have something messy going on around her style, that represent who she is as an artist and as a person. For example; colorful hair extensions, hair accessories, strong eyeshadow and more.

NEXT STEPS:

BRINGING THE VISION TO LIFE

With all of the marketing research and with the outline we did for the releasing of her brand, our next steps involve creating the music video and executing the outlined strategies. We are in progress of making the website design, where we would sell branded products, put links for her music videos and behind-the-scenes of her work, news and much more. All of her platforms are also being created such as TikTok, Instagram and X to be closer to her public. We are currently designing all of her branded products and doing multiple photoshoots so that we have enough content to use for her online presence. 


ROYALS MUSIC VIDEO

For her music video we tried to tell the story of not following the typical norms or expectations, aligning with who she wants to be represented as an artist and as a person despite all the societal pressures. In the music video, we see her walking to a ballet dancing studio, going from a sketchy neighborhood to a more prestigious one. In the dance studio, Adeline X tries to dance freely but gets yelled at by the instructor. As the video continues, Adeline X keeps being herself by going against the restrictions the dance studio has. This video will be released on February 2nd at midnight, since in the first two months of the year the music market isn't as saturated as later on in the year.

As we move forward, we will have most of her marketing strategies such as the music video done to unveil her online presence.
